Where does the discerning traveller stay when in the Big Apple? There are a myriad of options in the city that never sleeps, ranging from beautiful boutiques to some very chintzy chains – all offering great accommodation – but our favourite spot to stay in style has to be the Bryant Park Hotel.

Situated on 40 West 40th Street, the hotel resides in the dramatic Radiator Building, and then adds to that drama once you step inside. This is a place well known for style and fashion – and plays a part in the traditional New York Fashion Week shows and parties.

Listed on the Conde Nast Gold List in 2004 as one of the “World’s Best Places to Stay”, it is best to sample all aspects of the hotel’s offerings:

• First off, the guest rooms are trendy and provide great views over the park, with the bathrooms being particularly chic. Request a corner room if you can for the best outlook
• The restaurant, Koi, offers top-class LA-style Japanese and fusion cuisine in spectacular surroundings
• The Cellar Bar, a far cry from traditional basement establishments, povides a seductive spot to hang out with the glitterati – with service provided by attractive waitresses in bustiers, who get up and sway seductively on the leather couches later in the evening

The hotel also offers meeting spaces for those chic conferences, including The Screening Room – a 70-seater private theatre with plush red velour seating and a full digital Dolby surround experience.
